Labiaplasty

CONVENIENTLY LOCATED TO SERVE NASHVILLE, BRENTWOOD, AND FRANKLIN

Labiaplasty in Nashville is a cosmetic surgical procedure in which the labia are reshaped to restore their former proportions, symmetry, and coloration. In the last decade, the demand for this procedure has gone up by 40% in the U.S. alone.

Age, genetics, hormonal fluctuations, menstruation, pregnancy, and childbirth can affect the appearance of the labia. Labial length, thickness, coloration, and symmetry can all undergo unexpected changes.

For many women, these changes can interfere with normal sexual activity and exercise. They may result in urinary tract infections. These changes can also negatively affect self-esteem. Labiaplasty is a form of vaginal rejuvenation surgery used to address these changes, resulting in improvements in quality of life.

Your Initial Consultation

The first step in the process is a consultation with Dr. Papillion. During this, you will get more information on the surgery itself, including preparation and the recovery process. Make sure to ask any questions you may have.

An examination will be performed to ensure that the procedure is right for you. The two of you will also discuss your complete medical history, including any past procedures and any allergies.

Once Dr. Papillion clearly understands your goals and has cleared you for labiaplasty surgery, he will create a surgical plan and set a date for the procedure.

Who Is a Good Candidate for Labiaplasty?

Good candidates for labiaplasty are 18 years old or older and are interested in resolving labial asymmetry, discoloration, elongation, and/or thickness.

Many candidates for labiaplasty surgery have experienced tears in the labia during labor. Ideal candidates feel physical discomfort during exercise, sex, and activities like walking or sitting.

I am so happy that I found your practice and Dr. Papillon, I only wish I’d found him sooner! I was greeted warmly and helped right away when I arrived. I was very comfortable during the exam and all of my questions were answered thoroughly. I left feeling confident that I would use Dr. Papillion for this procedure mainly because I feel like his knowledge and attention to detail would extend beyond the exam room into the operating room. Dr. Papillion has an excellent bedside manner, which honestly is hard to find these days. I would feel 100% comfortable having my procedure done by Dr. Papillion.

How Is Labiaplasty Performed?

On the day of the surgery, you will be given general anesthesia, and then the surgery will be performed. Labiaplasty surgery is done one of two ways: by trimming or by removing a wedge of labial tissue. Surgeons can choose either method based on the patient’s needs.

Trimming is the most common technique used. In this procedure, excess tissue is removed from the outer edges of the labia.
In the wedge method, a wedge-shaped section of tissue is removed from the thickest part of the labial lip. The edges are rejoined and sutured.

Post-Surgery Care and Recovery

Since surgery is performed in a very sensitive area, recovery requires more care than usual. Follow Dr. Papillion’s care directions closely.

You will have to take pain medication as prescribed. You should avoid cycling and other strenuous activities. Avoid baths entirely until the area has healed, and do not take long showers.

Healing can take up to four weeks, and complete healing takes about three months. If you have any problems during recovery, contact Dr. Papillion.
How Much Does Labiaplasty Surgery Cost?

The cost of labiaplasty surgery varies from case to case. Its price is determined using factors like the techniques used, the anesthesia administered, and the overall surgical time needed.
